A coalition of labor, religious, community and anti-apartheid groups led by Cleveland Robinson, Secretary-Treasurer of District 65 UAW, organized a demonstration against apartheid held on August 13, 1985 in New York City. Police estimates place the crowd at 15,000. Organizers said it was at least twice that.
