On May Day, more than 1,000 people demonstrated against racism, colonialism, apartheid and imperialism in New York City. Initiated by the Pan African Students' Organization in the Americas (PASOA), the demonstration brought together many organizations in a display of solidarity with the people of Southern Africa in their struggle for freedom.
