Washington, DC, United States
August 27, 1983
In August 1983 members of the Southern Africa Support Project (SASP) joined the 20th Anniversary March on Washington. It was at the original March on Washington in August 1963 that Martin Luther King gave his "I Have a Dream" speech. Seen here is Adwoa Dunn-Mouton of the SASP (holding bag) and her son Omari (under the banner). The SASP was organized in June 1978 in Washington D.C. as a community organization to do political, educational and fund-raising work for the liberation struggles in Zimbabwe, Namibia, and South Africa. In 1985 Dunn-Mouton joined the staff of the House Subcommittee on Africa and she was the lead staff person for the Senate Subcommittee on Africa from 1990-1993.
