The memorandum says The Africa Fund has received a new two year grant from the Ford Foundation (effectively 1999-2000) to enable us to expand our educational work in the faith community; the project we presented to them was based on the model The Africa Fund's sister organization, ACOA, developed under the leadership of Wyatt Tee Walker, Canon Fred Williams and Bill Howard, reaching out to individual congregations and constructing a strong, informed network. The memorandum mentions ACOA (American Committee on Africa), a network of state and local elected officials, a public education project, the Carnegie Corporation, staff retrenchment, Paul Harris, Jim Cason, and Aisha Satterwhite.
