Soon after December 2, 1997
1 page
The leaflet reprints a December 2, 1997 article that reports that a Manhattan judge has temporarily stopped the city from naming the northeast corner of Second Avenue and 44th Street after Kudirat Abiola, the slain wife of Moshood K.O. Abiola, who was elected president of Nigeria in 1993 but has been imprisoned since 1994 by the military Government of Gen. Sani Abacha. The leaflet mentions Justice Stanley Parness of the State Supreme Court, the Congress of Nigerians Abroad, "Kudirat Abiola Corner," and the City Council.
