The report says during the course of the year, The Fund has shifted the emphasis of its data collection from human rights violations in South Africa to a broader focus, and to economic justice issues including debt, structural adjustment programs and reconstruction and development in South Africa. The report says for more than a decade The Africa Fund was the U.S. source for most of the information vital for imposing sanctions on South Africa; now Fund staff are seeking to facilitate U.S. investment in South Africa in a socially responsible way which will meet such goals as generating employment, implementing effective affirmative action and strengthening Black economic empowerment. The report says the archives of The Africa Fund and the American Committee on Africa are at The Amistad Research Center at Tulane University in New Orleans; the archives includes both organizational files and files of data from the research department,
