The report says on another front, we have been increasingly concerned about developments in Zimbabwe, including violent attacks by government forces on civil society critics, the arrest and torture of journalists, prominent academics and others; after discussion with allies in the progressive academic community, including members of the Association of Concerned Africa Scholars, The Africa Fund and The American Committee on Africa both signed on to a resulting letter sent to President Mugabe last week; I have enclosed both letters for your information.
