Invitation to opponents of apartheid in the Bay Area to a meeting signed by David Bacon and David Shelton, Co-chairs, Labor Committee. The SeaLand Corporation has started cargo service to South Africa from the Port of Oakland. This will give support to the South African economy and the apartheid regime, thereby harming efforts of the Black majority in South Africa to free itself from that racist system. The Oakland City Council, Oakland Port Commission, and Alameda County Board of Supervisors have all passed divestment resolutions which are considered models for other areas.
