We will be demonstrating, demanding that U.S. corporations stop importing Rhodesian goods and that the shipping companies stop carrying this cargo. The people of Zimbabwe have been waging armed struggle for 10 years to regain control of their country from the racist government which represents the 5% European population, and from the international corporations, which force them to work for slave wages. When Zimbabwean workers try to organize or go on strike, they face imprisonment or death. The U.S. government has given its support to the racist regime's policies of slave labor and discrimination against the Zimbabwean people because it serves the interest of U.S. corporations, such as Goodyear, Union Carbide, and General Motors (GM). Among the American people, support has been growing for the liberation struggle in Zimbabwe. Longshoremen, supported by other workers and students of all nationalities in Baltimore, Philadelphia, and now New Orleans, have refused to unload Rhodesian goods brought by ships like the African Sun.
