Leaflet advertising an event on November 13 at DuBois House at the University of Pennsylvania. The event includes the film "A Cry for Freedom" on Namibia, a presentation by Selma Ashipala of the South West African People's Organization (SWAPO) Pioneers, the film "Crossroads/South Africa," a presentation by Klaus Mophepha, and a panel on opposing links to apartheid. South Africa not only occupies Namibia and plunders its natural resources, it militarily occupies part of Angola and is making frequent incursions into neighboring countries. Western powers show little commitment to bringing about elections in Namibia. Klaus Mophepha was active in the 1976 Soweto rebellion and now serves in the African National Congress (ANC) Youth Section in Lusaka, Zambia. As the South African government intensifies the "homelands" policy, it proposes constitutional changes intended to co-opt "coloureds" and "Asians." The panel will be Benda Ithana of the Committee for a Free South Africa and Namibia (CAFSAN); Godfrey Sithole of the ANC; Linda Lote, an aide to Pennsylvania Senator Freeman Hankins; and Eric Elie, Chairperson of the U. Penn Black Students' League. The event is sponsored by U. of Penn. Southern Africa Solidarity Group, the Graduate Students Associations Council (GSAC), and CAFSAN. The leaflet discusses lobbying for the successful Philadelphia City Council divestment bill, "constructive engagement," U.S. businesses, and the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC).
