Mailing of the Unlock Apartheid's Jails campaign to Southern Africa Support and Human Rights Groups. The mailing says Southern Africa is suffering from the worst drought of the century which may ultimately claim the lives of millions of people; the severe drought caused by "El Nino" is wreaking devastation on people already burdened by inequitable distribution and wars of destabilization. The mailing says Congress must provide at least $710 million in PL 480 Food Aid for Fiscal Year 1993; increase funding levels for SADCC to $75 million in FY 1993 foreign aid appropriation; and be prepared to approve supplemental funds for FY 1992 for food aid and/or disaster assistance. People are asked to write members of Congress and local press to support increased Food Aid for Southern Africa. The mailing includes an article from Africa Report magazine.
