The mailing says after nearly 2,000 days, 5,000 lives and over 50,000 detentions, South Africa's state of emergency has finally been lifted; the one exception being the Natal area which has been declared an "Unrest Area" under the Public Amendment Act; and that it is hoped that within the next few days the 118 detainees held under the State of Emergency will finally be walking out of jail.
