Press release on the launch of the Stop Apartheid's Violence Campaign with a week of action in some 20 states from March 28 to April 4. The campaign, initiated by The Africa Fund, seeks to send a strong message to apartheid government that it is responsible for and must end the violence. The campaign also seeks to stop U.S. funding of Inkatha. More than 5,000 people have died in apartheid violence in South Africa since Nelson Mandela was released from prison in 1990. The South African military has trained, financed, and equipped Inkatha vigilantes who have targeted ANC supporters. For more information, contact Dumisani Kumalo or Richard Knight.
