Report comparing the provision of current U.S. sanctions law (Anti-Apartheid Act of 1986) and pending comprehensive sanctions legislation (H.R. 21/S. 507 Anti-Apartheid Act Amendments of 1989). H.R. 21/S. 507 bans all investment and bank loans to South Africa and Namibia, requires disinvestment within six months of the passage of the bill, bans all trade with South Africa except certain strategic minerals if the President determines them vital, and prohibits all U.S. military and intelligence cooperation with South Africa. (Note on date: S. 507 was introduced on March 3, 1989.)
