In her statement at a rally sponsored by the New York Anti-Apartheid Coordinating Council, Davis calls on the White House to immediately end all diplomatic ties with apartheid and for Congress to pass HR1580/S556 imposing comprehensive sanctions on South Africa. She says: "We are here to condemn the February crackdown against 17 leading democratic organizations and COSATU, by which the Government has declared war against all peaceful opposition to apartheid.
