The statement by state and municipal legislators and concerned citizens from communities across the country expresses a commitment to join in a common effort to see to it that the use of public funds for investment in banks and companies in South Africa is ended and such funds are reinvested in socially responsible ways. Participants are agreed that U.S. economic investments and bank loans perpetuate and strengthen racism in South Africa. The statement expresses support for the formation of the Campaign Against Investment in South Africa.
