Description

Representatives from eleven regions in the United States as well as Canada and England met at a Coordinating Committee of the Campaign to Oppose Bank Loans to South Africa (COBLSA) in Minneapolis. They committed themselves to expanding their program designed to stem the flow of financial assistance to the apartheid regime. The Coordinating Committee made plans to strengthen ties with labor unions, civil rights groups, students, religious and community organizations. It also pledged to support efforts to end the redlining practices of banks that also lend to South Africa.
