The mailing includes a mailgram opposing a U.S. delegation of any sort to monitor the April 20 elections under a new Constitution in Rhodesia, sent to Senators George McGovern and S.I Hayakawa, the Senate Sub-committee on African Affairs chairman and ranking Republican member, respectively. The mailgram says such a delegation will be interpreted as official U.S. recognition of validity of the elections, particularly since the Ian Smith government has welcomed the idea of such a delegation. The mailgram also mentions the Patriotic Front. The mailing asks people to send messages to the two Senators, the President, and the Secretary of State.
