This report on activities of the Committee to Oppose Bank Loans to South Africa (COBLSA) through mid-June 1978 mentions Chase Manhattan, Citibank, Morgan Guaranty Trust, Manufacturers Hanover Trust, Chemical Bank, and Bank of America. The document reports on a January 22, 1978 meeting of representatives of groups working on the campaign that decided to carry out major demonstrations around the country on March 21, anniversary of the 1960 Sharpeville massacre, and June 16, anniversary of the 1976 Soweto uprising. During the March demonstrations, hundreds of people protested in Minneapolis, Boston, Chicago, Rochester and New York as well as in several Canadian cities and in London, England. New York-based black community, southern Africa support, and anti-imperialist groups organized the June demonstration in New York.
