Report on the Krugerrand gold coin and the $4 million campaign in the U.S. by South Africa's Chamber of Mines in the fall of 1976 to advertise Krugerrands as a way to own gold. In responses, many groups used demonstrations and other means to convince the public that, by selling or owning Krugerrands, they were directly supporting apartheid. Banks, stores, and offices of Merrill Lynch Pierce Fenner and Smith.
