This press statement criticizes speeches by Secretary of State Kissinger which describe extra-continental involvement in Africa by the Soviet Union and Cuba as intervening in Angola without any reference to U.S. involvement in support of UNITA and FNLA in Angola. This is despite admission of covert U.S. support for these groups by William Colby, director of the CIA, and Joseph Sisco, Under Secretary of State. Kissinger also did not allude to the incursions of white mercenaries and South African regulars hundreds of miles into Angola.
