Houser left New York together for a one day stop in Dakar, nine days in Guinea-Bissau, one week in the Cape Verde Islands. Houser then traveled alone for 10 days in Angola. The report says the PAIGC faces tremendous problems as they try to build a new nation. The report says we spent many hours at the Pidjiguiti Dock, the scene of the massacre of August 3, 1959 which changed the course of the struggle in Guinea-Bissau; on that day the workers peacefully demonstrated against low wages; some 50 dock workers were shot down and killed and many more were wounded.
