AMERICAN COMMITTEE ON AFRICA OPPOSED RHODESIAN SANCTIONS BREAKING BY UNION CARBIDE AT STOCKHOLDER MEETING: CALLS FOR SUPPORT FOR BILL H.R. 1868 IN CONGRESS TO RESTORE SANCTIONS
The press release announced that the American Committee on Africa plan to raise a question at the Annual Meeting of the Union Carbide Corporation about importing materials from Rhodesia in violation of United Nations sanctions. Union Carbide has consistently opposed legislation now before Congress (bill H.R. 1868) that would prohibit such imports and restore sanctions. Union Carbide's business with Rhodesia supports the illegal, minority Rhodesian regime.
