The report is a reprint of a U.S. Department of Commerce list of companies investing in South Africa to which notation has been added of companies that are most significant because of 1) their economic or strategic importance to the maintenance of the white supremacist system; 2) their connections to the U.S. government, or 3) their having been under protest or examinations by the stockholders, institutional investors, employees, student groups, or groups concerned about Africa. The report says the list does not include all corporations with important links with South Africa; for example Chase Manhattan bank has interests in the Standard Bank there. The report notes that Polaroid Corporation has no investments in South Africa but has come under protest because of the sale of products to the South African government. The report says the source is dated September 1970.
