Houser discusses U.S. economic involvement in South Africa, disinvestment, sanctions, and U.S. policy. He notes that, in 1963, the U.S. announced a policy of barring arms shipments. Houser discusses the testimony of Governor G. Mennen Williams and Alexander Trowbridge. Houser says a Johannesburg newspaper reported that South Africa has sending daily oil shipments to Rhodesia. The testimony reviews "national homelands" including Transkei. Discussing South Africa's inaugurating its first nuclear reactor at Pelindaba in mid-l965, Houser points out that many South Africans were trained at Oak Ridge, Oak Ridge provided a consultant, the U.S. supplied enriched uranium, nine American organizations were involved, and the major contractor was Allis Chalmers.
