A letter and leaflet advertises a speech by Alan Paton on "South Africa after the Sharpeville Disaster" at the Community Church of New York. The letter says that this appearance, Paton's last before he returns to Africa, is the only such event open to the public. This is his first visit to the U.S. Since 1956. The leaflet says Alan Paton has received universal acclaim for "Cry, the Beloved Country," "Too Late the Phalarope," and other works. He lives near Durban and is a leader of the multi-racial Liberal Party. The leaflet includes a quote from Paton about apartheid.
