Address to the "National Conference on the South Africa Crisis and American Action" in Washington, D.C. by H.E.M. Achkar Marof, Permanent Representative of Guinea to the United Nations and Chairman of the United Nations Special Committee on the Policies of Apartheid of the Government of the Republic of South Africa. Marof says the international community must impose economic sanctions against South Africa to end the cancer of racism there, but the Great Powers and major trading partners must support sanctions in order for them to succeed. But during the past two years, precisely since the General Assembly resolution of November 6, 1962 requesting Member States to cut off economic relations with South Africa, a number of American companies have announced large-scale investments in South Africa, including Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Chrysler, Caltex, Newmont Mining Company, and American Metal Climax. Also, American banks have increased their revolving credit to South Africa.
