In September, the Republic of Guinea-Bissau declared its independence from Portugal, which still refuses to acknowledge Guinea-Bissau's right to self-determination. The liberation struggle continues. The article includes an account of Houser's visit to Guinea-Bissau at the invitation of the PAIGC, the African Party for the Independence of Guinea and Cape Verde.
