Description

This press release reports than more than 480 people were killed in an attack by anti-government rebels on the coastal town of Homoine in Mozambique's Inhambane province. Mark van Koevering, a Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) agricultural worker who had moved to the town 10 days earlier, was in a hotel near the attack but was not harmed during the attack. When the attack ended, Van Koevering was among the first people to begin moving the injured to Maxixe for treatment. The press release quotes James Shenk, director of MCC East Coast.
