The introduction says that in in July 1973, the American Committee on Africa and other groups released a text of "the Frankfurt Documents" to the public. The document describes how American, European, Canadian and Japanese banks are involved in lending over $210 million dollars to the South African government. Mentioned in this document are Wachovia Bank of North Carolina, Central National Bank of Chicago, City National Bank of Detroit, Merchants National Bank and Trust Company of Indianapolis, Maryland National Bank of Baltimore, Well Fargo Bank of San Francisco, the European-American Banking Corp., Bank Leumi, First National Bank of Louisville, and United Virginia Bankshares Inc. This pamphlet reprints an article Making Global Consciousness Work, How Local Churches in One State Talked a Bank Out of Granting a Loan to the Government of South Africa... The article recounts the experience of church and community groups in pressing Maryland National Bank towards the decision to divest its South African loans.
