The leaflet reprints a fictitious news article announcing that Portugal has agreed to the independence of Angola because Gulf Oil said it would withdraw from the oil fields in Cabinda if independence was not granted. (This article was written by Frank P. White, Director of the Corporate Information Center of the National Council of Churches.) The leaflet spells out ways Gulf Oil could use its leverage to influence Portuguese and U.S. policy. It says that the Gulf boycott will end when there have been free and fair elections in Angola, with outside observers, involving all three liberation movements.
