Possibilities for funding NWRC • 11. Recommendations • Report on the American Committee on Africa (ACOA) to CCLAMG (Chicago Committee for the Liberation of Angola, Mozambique and Guinea). The report discusses the independence of many African countries during the 1960s, after which ACOA's focus shifted toward southern Africa. At this time, ACOA was the only group in the US working on southern Africa. In 1964, ACOA exposed the relationship between U.S. economic interests and white minority regimes. In the late '60's, several Black Americans joined the staff and Board of ACOA. in summer of 1971, when Prexy Nesbitt was leaving ACOA, he recommended that some continuing effort be assured to at least distribute Southern Africa literature. The report discusses the ACOA Executive Board, GRAE (Revolutionary Government of Angola in Exile), Holden Roberto, George Houser, Lumumba, Padmore, Nkrumah, Fanon, FNLA, MPLA, FRELIMO, PAIGC, church and political groups, Students for a Democratic Society (SDS), a boycott against 10 American banks (Chase, First National City Bank, Continental Illinois Bank), the OAU (Organization of African Unity), Leopoldville, UPA (Union des Populations d'Angola), UNITA, The Africa Fund, Judge William Booth, the United Nations, NATO, sanctions, Rhodesia, the Smith regime, Ian Smith, CAIC (Chicago Anti-Imperialist Collective), the All African People's Convention (the All African People's Conference), the armed struggle of African liberation movements, U.S. military and political support of minority regimes, ANC-Zimbabwe, apartheid, African American Institute, African American Labor Center (AFL-CIO), Africa Research Group (ARG), NACLA, NARMIC, CAGLA, Africa Information Service (AIS), and African Liberation Day.
