The mailing reports that 16 people from seven coalition groups and others met at the recent African Studies Association Conference in Boston. The group felt that the intensity of recent developments in Southern Africa - the liberation of Mozambique and Angola, and the mounting struggles in Zimbabwe and South Africa itself - has created great interest in the U.S. about Southern Africa. The informal group that met felt that the Coalition is an important mechanism for strengthening out Southern Africa solidarity work and suggested that it consider creating a full-time staff position. The mailing includes a list of those present at the meeting.
