Leaflet for a conference and benefit dance on Sunday, November 19 at Lincoln Park Presbyterian Church with speakers, films, and workshops on the struggle for liberation in Southern Africa. Speakers included Sharfudine Khan, U.S. representative of the Mozambique Liberation Front (FRELIMO); Dennis Brutus, South Africa poet in exile and former political prisoner; and Bob Van Lierop, Afro-American lawyer who traveled with FRELIMO in summer 1971. "A Luta Continua," van Lierop's film about Mozambique, was to be shown. The dance featuring African music was a benefit for the Organization of Angolan Women. The leaflet also advertised a series of three workshop sponsored by: Chicago Committee for the Liberation of Angola, Mozambique and Guinea; United Front Against Imperialism; Chicago Anti-Imperialist Collective; Southern African Liberation and Information Group; Ethiopian Student Union of Chicago; Iranian Students Association; Revolutionary Union; Red Star League; People's Voice; Fight Back!; Sojourner Truth; Chicago Women's Liberation Union; Jackson Organization; Seminarians Organized for Peace and Justice; New American Movement; Southern Africa Task Force (United Church of Christ); and Chicago Area Group on Latin America. Some sponsoring organizations were associated with the New World Resource Center, where the workshops were held. [Note about date: November 19 was on a Sunday in 1974.]
