This pamphlet describes the history of Portuguese colonialism in Angola, Mozambique and Guinea-Bissau. It discusses the forced labor of many agricultural workers, such as on coffee plantations in Angola and cotton farms in Mozambique. It describes greater organized resistance in the 1950s that developed into liberation movements in the 1960s. As resistance grew, Portugal opened its colonies to foreign investors, including Gulf Oil. Tax payments from companies, military aid from NATO, and economic aid from the U.S. in exchange for use of a military base in the Azores supported continued Portuguese rule over the colonies.
