The letter says at the time of Namibian independence, seven states, eight counties and forty cities had included Namibia in their anti-apartheid policies. The letter says The Africa Fund will continue to work with the Namibian Embassy, city councilmembers and local activists to get the process of removal completed. The letter says action is likely to move forward soon on the remaining restrictions. The letter says I enclose a chart compiled by Richard Knight, the Fund staff person charged with seeing this matter through. The letter says it reflects the current situation -- and I hope, within weeks to be able to compile a final version showing no city, state or county with any outstanding restrictions on Namibia. The letter includes a copy of STATUS OF STATE, COUNTY AND CITY POLICIES TOWARDS NAMIBIA. [Note: The same letter was also sent to Ambassador Tuliameni Kalomoh in Washington, D.C., Ambassador Tunguru Huaraka at the United Nations, and David De Beer in The Netherlands.]
