The Executive Committee has just finished its annual teleconference to sort out problems and make preliminary plans for our activities at the ASA meeting in St. Louis. There was a strong feeling that we need to identify new objectives for ACAS in the years ahead based on changing global realities, by addressing the question "What should committed Africa scholars be doing in the 1990s and what organizational forms should they take?" A meeting on Friday evening, Nov. 22, in St. Louis will address this issue, involving the Board and a few other guests.
