Letter from Rodney Green to Councilman John Ray asking him to introduce a bill banning the sale of the Krugerrand in the District of Columbia. Green recommends adding this direct economic sanction to the ongoing protests at the South African embassy. South Africa has sold close to one-half billion dollars' worth of Krugerrands in the U.S., which brings in considerable foreign exchange. Green says he is writing to Ray because of Ray's your past legislative initiatives against economic ties to South Africa. Green asks Ray to introduced a bill banning Krugerrand sales at the February 26 meeting of the City Council and says that InCAR member will be present to support such action.
