Name • The report says this report is based on proposals of an ad hoc committee on internal structure and education and the full group's meeting on February 8th; it indicates what decisions the full group made and which issues have yet to be decided on. The report says the group will meet twice a month during this start-up period, with the possibility of reducing to once a month later after directions of the group have been set and committees are functioning regularly. The report says we will continue meeting regularly on Tuesday nights, for at least the next month to six weeks; this is not a good night for everyone, so we will reconsider this decision after fuller consultation with all participants. The report says the following responsibilities should be rotated for each meeting. We will select people at the end of each meeting to perform these functions at the next meeting. The report says we need to discuss a regular meeting place, and to consider whether a more community-based location should be found. The report says participation should continue to be open, but there should be members who plan to participate regularly, both in whole-group business meetings and on a committee. Members are also expected to pay dues to support the group's work. The report says three ongoing committees will be formed, with the idea that each member of the group will relate to one of them; these are (1) political action (2) educational outreach (3) material aid; additionally, ad hoc committees could be formed at any time by a group business meeting. The report says it is premature to set up a "core group" or "executive committee" until we know each other better and have developed mutual confidence and a style of work together; we recognize that some such structure may begin to evolve from the secretariat and the committees, and think this question will have to be taken up again later by the whole group. The report says the following criteria came up in discussion: what political message the name conveys; the name should be sufficiently different from that of other groups in the city to avoid confusion; be easy to remember and say and perhaps have a nice acronym.
