Mailing about a boxing match between John Tate and Genie Coetzee of South Africa. The mailing says NBC-TV has decided to go ahead with the telecast of the Tate-Coetzee fight in South Africa (see enclosed press release for details); however, the telecast can still be stopped; we must act now. The mailing lists ACTION PRIORITIES (in order of urgency) - for period 15 September - 3 October. The mailing asks people to contact their local NBC affiliate and express their disappointment over the Network's decision and request that the local affiliate not should not carry the fight in your area; send letters of concern to the local stations; arrange meetings with local station managers, help organize demonstrations at NBC to protest the telecast; write or call Art Watson, President of NBC Sports; and write letters to the editor of their local newspaper. The mailing says ACCESS is organizing a national demonstration at NBC headquarters (30 Rockefeller Plaza) for October 3rd from 12 to 2 pm; if the telecast does take place, then there will also be a demo there while the fight is in progress (October 20th from 4 to 6 pm). The mailing says coalition members are arranging with their contacts in key cities to hold simultaneous demonstrations at local NBC affiliates. The mailing says ACCESS is now compiling a list of NBC's advertisers for the fight. This will be sent to you soon. At that point, letters of protest should be sent to key advertisers.
