Letter to Bob Edgar at African Studies and Research, Howard University. Lapchick thanks Edgar for his concern over the attach made on me on February 14 and subsequent campaign to discredit me by saying I self-inflicted the wounds. Nationally, things are quite good as the polygraph and Dr. Spain's report have been accepted as vindication. Best of all, the Nashville demonstrations against South Africa were a great success. Things are still unsettled on the local level as the Medical Examiner has refused to retract his position (as he agreed he would do) if I took a polygraph and had a second forensic pathologist examine me. The Tidewater press has all but tried and convicted me. Lapchick and his wife receive frequent threatening calls, their car and office have both been broken into twice, and, worst of all, their children were threatened earlier this month. (The address of the Committee For Justice For Richard Lapchick on the letterhead is c/o The Phelps Stokes Fund.)
