Copy of a letter to President Jimmy Carter repeating a request that he oppose continued exchanges between U.S. sports organizations and organizations which are a part of the apartheid system in South Africa. On March 17-19 at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, a tennis team representing the apartheid system will again play against a team representing the U.S. in the Davis Cup competition. The letter appeals to Carter to affirm his support for human rights and opposition to apartheid by opposing this event and calling on the United States Tennis Association to heed United Nations resolutions that call for cessation of sports exchanges with apartheid sports bodies.
