The leaflet calls attention to the repression and violent clashes by the South African police and army in black townships - the most significant since the 1976 Soweto student rebellion. The liberation struggle in Azania (the African name for South Africa), led by the liberation movements, the Pan Africanist Congress (PAC) and the African National Congress (ANC), has escalated in the last year: 100,000 students have been on strike for months, and a steep rent increase in the townships also helped spark the unrest. The leaflet critiques the role of U.S. companies in selling electric cattle prods to the police and IBM computers for use by the police, the military, the prisons and the pass system....
