This leaflet about the divestment campaign at the University of California (UC) highlights the Crossroads community near Cape Town, which was built in defiance of the laws of apartheid. Many Africans were forcibly "relocated" from the land where they were living to the barren Ciskei Bantustan. So people came back and built informal houses in Crossroads, to be near Cape Town. The battle over Crossroads is part of the Africans' struggle to take back control of their land. Supporters of divestment built a shantytown on the UC campus to symbolize the UC's $2.4 billion invested in corporations operating in apartheid South Africa. Police from UC and several East Bay cities attacked the shantytown. There are two sides to this struggle; UC supports apartheid; proponents of divestment support the other side - the side of the Black nation in Azania/South Africa. Organizers says they will stop police buses in Berkeley and raise funds for the freedom fighters in South Africa. The leaflet mentions Sanna Yezile, China and Cishe Bengan, the African National Congress (ANC), the Pan Africanist Congress (PAC), Azanian People's Organization (AZAPO), the United Democratic Front (UDF), and liberation movements.
