The press release says the eight defendants sang "Solidarity Forever" while being arrested; March 18 was declared by the Chicago City Council as "A Day of Solidarity with South African Trade Unionists." The press release says union members had earlier rallied at the Federal Plaza at Dearborn and Jackson and then marched to 200 South Michigan, the new location of the South African Consulate.
