Memorandum presumably sent out as a mailing to Rosetta Daylie, Co-Chair; Monsignor John Egan, Co-Chair; Robert Angus; Ron Bowden; Kathy Devine; Stafford Garbutt; Jo Patton; and Al Richardson from Kathy and Jo. The memorandum says the next meeting of the Benefit Reception Committee will be Monday, August 6th, 12 noon, at DePaul University. The memorandum says at our meeting on July 20, Kathy reported that Nelson Mandala's fall visit to Chicago looks doubtful; the committee agreed to go ahead with our plans for a large benefit reception and ad book; the Reception is now scheduled to be held Friday, November 30th at the Midland Hotel beginning at 5 PM with the program at 6:00 PM; tickets will be $35; Steelworker's International President Lynn Williams and Representative Ron Dellums (with Representative William Grey as a backup) have been invited to speak; Senator Paul Simon and Representatives Charles Hayes and Lane Evans have been invited to serve as Honorary Chairs; also, we will try to get sports celebrities to serve as "Hosts" at the Reception. The memorandum says we approved the budget and ad rates were set at $500 for full page, $300 for half page and $150 for quarter page; the front inside page and back cover will be $1000; a donor category was set at $100, which will include 2 tickets. The memorandum says the committee discussed the formation of a larger Reception Committee and agreed that we should reach out beyond the labor movement for support; everyone agreed to provide names of potential Reception Committee members; these individuals will be invited to serve on the Reception Committee and if they agree their names will appear on the invitation and they will be asked to help sell tickets. The memorandum says please remember to bring your list of 10-20 names to next week's meeting and be sure to include each individual's address, phone number and, where appropriate, the title we should use to address a letter to him or her.
