Poem by the Illinois Labor Network Against Apartheid (ILNAA) honoring Nomonde Ngubo on her birthday. Ngubo was a South African mine worker and a founding member of the National Union of Mineworkers of South Africa. She worked at the staff of the United Mine Workers of America in Washington, DC and was a collaborator with the ILNAA, which hosted her in Chicago. The poem discusses Winnie Mandela, Nelson Mandela, and F.W. de Klerk. It ends with: "Your spirit is contagious. You are a light in our world. It i s you Who keep people like us Carrying on."
