The mailing says the American Committee on Africa is delighted that you will be participating in our conference on municipal investment and South Africa, to be held in New York City on October 11th and 12th; all conference proceedings will be held at the Church Center for the U.N., 777 United Nations Plaza. The mailing says the program will begin on Friday, October 11th with a press conference for city legislators at 3:30 to 5:00 pm, followed by a reception hosted by the UN Special Committee Against Apartheid and ACOA; registration will be from 6:30 to 7:00 pm; the conference opening is at 7:00 to 10:00 pm, with Rev. Jesse Jackson as the keynote speaker. The mailing says the Saturday program begins with registration (coffee and doughnuts) at 8:30 to 9:00 am, a plenary from 9:00 to 10:00 am, followed by the morning workshop (10:00 to 12:00) addressing the topics: South Africa: Why Reforms Aren't Reforms; a Case for Economic Withdrawal; My City's Response to Apartheid; and Financial Consequence of Divestment. The mailing says there will be a break at noon for a catered lunch, followed by a second workshop on organizing support and preparing and passing legislation; the final plenary will be held from 3:00 to 3:45 pm.
