Mailing advertising a meeting at the Molder's Union Local 164 in Oakland on July 16. The Dellums Bill, withdrawing U.S. investment from South Africa and banning trade, passed the House, and it has been introduced in the Senate (S 2570) with influential co-sponsors, Senators Kennedy, Weicker, Bradley, Levin, Specter, and Kerry. People are asked to request that your international union to give high legislative priority to this bill and to pass a resolution in every body with which you are affiliated (do not forget the California Labor Federation Convention). The mailing says peace is an important trade union issue - for example the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions declares it one of its three-point program. at the next meeting of the Committee for International Support of Trade Union Rights (CISTUR) we will have as a speaker Ignacio de la Fuente, of Molder's Union, Local 164, reporting on the Second World Trade Union Conference on the Social and Economic Aspects of Disarmament.
