The press release says we have been picketing Lincoln Child Center for over 2 ½ years; the Center attempted initially to placate us with committees to study its immoral investment policy; after months of appearing to agonize over the issue of apartheid, they attempted to employ two strategies; they adopted the defunct Sullivan Principles and finally circulated a shameless sham-divestment ploy; they have not to date presented any evidence of real divestment. The press release says Lincoln Child Center, true to their announcement in your May 3, 1988 article on these events, initiated a campaign of harassment and intimidation of its employees participating in the pickets; the agency, with malice, conspired to deprive picketers of their civil liberties; they suspended us without pay under bogus charges. The press release says it is our intention to maintain our pickets until we are presented with evidence of real divestment; in light of the Agencies long history of racial problems, we will request a negotiated monitoring mechanism to insure continued future compliance.
